Eating Fruit: Still Life in Watercolor

I've been wanting to do this project for a few years now and don't know what was stopping me, because the results are awesome! I loved the idea of a "before-during-after" series and thought that fruit was the perfect subject since the "after" would result in some neat peels, pits and cores. The challenge was that we had to take photographs of the various stages so the kids could work for more than one day on the piece without the fruit getting brown, stinky, etc. I always prefer work from direct observation than from a photo, but I got over it and I'm glad I did. Students used a combination of watercolor pencils and pan watercolor. Without further ado, here they are!

UPDATE (10/8/12): Here is the work from my second section of 7th grade, who were working on the same project. It took them longer since we had days off on their meeting days, and some are still not even done!
