Goodbye, for now!

Today is my last day at Calvert before going on maternity leave. It's certainly bittersweet since I am OBSESSED with my job and the kids I teach, it is hard to leave them... I know they will continue to be inspired by my capable and talented long-term sub, so I just have to "let go!" My blog will be on hold until my return mid-May (although you might see a post or two to promote summer camp!), but please continue to check back then! So long for now!

Still Life in Acrylic

My first semester eighth graders worked so long and hard on these paintings and I am so proud of the results! Students worked at one of four still life set-ups in the art room. They started by creating preparatory sketches and focusing on interesting composition. We talked about and practiced value, color mixing, blending and more as they worked in acrylic paint on 16"x 20" stretched canvas. Come see these beauties in person if you get the chance!
