Well, somehow the summer has come and gone, and here we are again... the day before school starts. Half anxious, half excited, well rested yet not quite rested enough. Like most of you probably were, I was less productive this summer than I had hoped, especially in the art department. No big trips this year to an art mecca like last summer, the two canvases I had planned/hoped to turn into spectacular paintings still sit primed and bare, and I spent more time using crayons in a Dora coloring book with my two year old daughter than doing any deep thinking about "real art"...
But the break was good, and necessary, and can only mean one thing... I am ready to get jiggy with art again this school year! Little by little, I've been picking up steam. It started by scouring Pinterest at night while watching TV and then looking through old Arts & Activities magazines in the past two weeks. I could almost feel the rusty gears start turning in my brain as the ideas started to flow. And then last week I came in to set up my room and, like every year, with each box of supplies that I opened, I felt the momentum start to build. Nothing beats the smell of fresh paper and Mod Podge and the potential of all these clean, new brushes and pencils that have yet to make a mark. What you will do with them will be incredible and fun and authentic, and I can't wait to see it all. Are you ready?!??
A few words of wisdom from our old friend, Vincent, to inspire and encourage us as we get back into the groove...
See you tomorrow, artists!
