5th Grade boys recently looked at examples of real fossils in class before drawing their own fossilized plants, animal bones, shells, etc. and transferring them to rubber-like carving material. Using gouges, the boys carved out their designs and then used traditional printmaking techniques to make a series of colored prints. Lastly, they pressed their designs into clay to make "real" fossil rocks...

ReplyDeleteThey just used a brown glaze all over, then rubbed some off with a wet sponge so the raised parts stood out. You can see that some rubbed off more glaze than others did and both looked great!
