We have had a fun two days in 8th grade art class making the plaster masks that we will be painting on for our first projects. After donning some lovely shower caps and covering faces in plastic wrap (leaving the nostrils open), students wet and applied plaster gauze strips in layers over the face of their partner. Students made sure to overlap strips and to rub over the holes in the gauze to create a strong, seamless mask. Stay tuned for pics of the painted pieces later this semester!
